Lilly, Medtronic Form Strategic Marketing Alliance

Published: 19-May-2009

Eli Lilly and Company (Lilly) and Medtronic entered into a strategic marketing alliance to strengthen their partnership in the US, in treating diabetic patients to manage blood sugar with insulin therapy.

The collaboration draws synergy from Lilly’s insulin expertise and Medtronic’s diabetes technologies. The alliance is expected to enhance awareness level of the people and help them benefit from educational tools related to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and insulin pump therapy.

Medtronic manufactures CGM systems, insulin pumps, integrated diabetes management systems and therapy management software.

Matt Beebe, diabetes brand leader, Lilly USA, LLC, said: “With this alliance, Lilly and Medtronic hope to create integrated solutions to address challenges for people taking insulin who need optimal glycemic control. By joining forces, we will help make insulin therapy more achievable by offering new educational materials and resources that help make insulin pump therapy fit into patients' lives.”
